Constuction stop
Even the most peaceful man cannot live in peace if his neighbor ...
That’s an old saying my mum used to quote. I don’t quite believe it.
We were warned by other neighbours and by the builder himself. A neighbour has a problem with him. That’s all we know, but now we’re caught in the middle. The words ‘quarrelsome and frustrated’ were mentioned. But we took it in stride and thought, nobody would do something like that.
But they did.
Now construction has been halted because our neighbour called the police and had the work stopped. Without informing us in advance and immediately after her return. (She was away in July). We already talked about this rule in a previous article. In July and August, a neighbour has the option of halting construction. This happens very rarely. After all, it jeopardises future relationships, and most people live with the construction noise, which only occurs during the day and is also strictly regulated.
Danny had already warned his crew back in July – when the neighbour wasn’t there – to keep quiet. No radio, no shouting – the volume of the construction equipment cannot be influenced. But at the time of the construction freeze, only masonry work was still going on at the construction site, and the annoying noise is now over.
Of course, we communicated with C (the neighbour), but instead of reaching a compromise, she sent us legal texts. A clear message to define the future relationship. Another neighbour told us that she would never do such a thing. After all, we had all caused construction noise at some point.
Now we are eagerly awaiting September. For Danny, the general contractor, this simply means sending people from our construction site to other construction sites where there are no neighbours causing trouble. In any case, he has enough to do. So the campaign affects him much less than it does us.
But September is coming, and I’m wondering whether the workers will do their best to keep the noise down then.
Another saying from ‘La vie sans Zoe’ goes like this: ‘If you’re having fun behind the fence, the others will definitely want to join in.’ I like that one much better.
Here are the latest photos. This is what the construction site looks like now. It’s ready for bricklaying. (Could be 😉
