Travel and Search

We have been travelling for as long as we can remember, and at the beginning of the new millennium, we discovered offshore sailing for ourselves. Since then, we’ve visited roughly 100 of the 197 United Nations countries – with more to come.

In 2016, the two of us crossed the Atlantic for the very first time, spending a year sailing on our Hanse 505. From our home port in Valencia (Spain) to the Caribbean. It was a wild year – the hardest, but also the best, of our lives.
It changed us, and we knew we had to go again. The second time we embarked on blue water sailing, we sold and gave away everything – including our wonderful house in Luxembourg – and switched from a monohull to a catamaran. With our new boat, we set off to sail around the world

We experienced so much and saw some truly wonderful places. Even early on in our journey, we found ourselves visiting countless properties and real estate offices. Why? At the time, we thought it was just a kind of hobby. But since then, we’ve learned a lot about real estate agents.

After a few years at sea, the longing for life on land grew stronger again. Not so much for Holger – he probably would have happily kept sailing for another hundred years. But I missed the land. And family and friends.
Planting tomatoes and having a stray cat in the garden. Standing on the balcony with my painting supplies and dropping by a neighbour’s house. Sitting at the piano with Hannah and balancing on tree trunks with Henri.
Don’t get me wrong – there are neighbours on the water, too. Most of them are lovely, and there’s always plenty to talk about. But you also have to say goodbye to those lovely people every few days.

Let's make it perfect

Karin (Ka) and Holger

Before moving aboard, we ran international marketing and design companies in Germany and Luxembourg for over 30 years. Ka also painted and drew – you can find her work on Behance.net. We speak German, English, French, and Luxembourgish, and we’re currently learning Spanish.
Thanks, Hektor 😉

Over the years at sea, we’ve learned and experienced so much.

Now, a new chapter of our lives is beginning: we’re building a new base.
Of course, our sailing life will continue – but for all the times we can’t be on the water, we’ll soon have a place to call home.
We’re happy to share our journey of returning to life on land and building a house in Spain with you.

You’re warmly invited to join us.
